History

South Haven borders Memphis's unincorporated suburb of White Haven across the borders of Mississippi and Tennessee, and its history began when Memphis's architect Kimmons Wilson (the founder of a hotel chain, Holiday Inn) developed a small residential section, centered on the first-time owner. The White Haven was later absorbed into Memphis. South Haven belongs to the fastest growing city in the southeastern United States. The area has doubled in the past 20 years, but the population has tripled. Like other parts of Desoto County, the growth is due to the transfer of white people from Memphis. However, in the recent movement called Black Flight, the ratio of black population has rapidly increased since 2000.

The fact that the South Haven, seen from Mississippi, is located on the north side of its name, contrary to its name, lies to the fact that its name is to the south of White Haven.
